My primary research relates to the modelling and optimization of a tubular chemical reactor for recycling of silicon tetrachloride by hydrogenation to trichlorosilane. Such work is conducted computationally, iteratively applying the mesoscale technique of computational fluid dynamics alongside the atomistic methodologies of molecular dynamics and density functional theory to provide a multi-scale simulation of reactor operation.

Secondary areas of my research include: atomistic simulation of material properties for key industrial materials and exploring novel applications of 2D nanomaterials to the sustainable energy field. In all cases, my research mindset is motivated by a societal need for accelerated technological deployment from the laboratory to the factory-floor to the benefit of Canadian industry in a cost-effective manner.
